Hotel: Libraries: Room Types: Add or Edit

Use this page to add a new Room Type or edit a Room Type as follows. All information entered here is propagated to newly created events. If editing a Room Type, the changes do not affect current events using this Room Type.

  1. Enter a unique, descriptive name for the room. This is required.

  2. Provide a description of the room, which is also required. You can use the various editing tools from the toolbar to customize the message, such as bold, italics and bullets.

  3. If supporting multiple languages, click the translation icon () to provide the translated text of the description.

  4. Select the maximum number of guests allowed in the Room Type.

  5. Enter the fees for each additional guest. If you allow more than 4 guests, the fifth guest and on will be the same fee as the fourth guest.

  7. Optionally, choose to show smoking preferences.

  9. Optionally, the room type can be marked as an Upsell Room Type in the Library.  This will then be the default when the room type is added to a Bundle.

  10. If a room type is identified as Upsell, you may then add a default increment.  This will be the default when the room type is added to a Bundle.  This field will be used to calculate the amount of Incremental Upsell Revenue gained when the room type is purchased.

  11. Optionally, the room type can be defaulted to enable the use of Primary Inventory.  This setting will be the default when the room type is added to a Bundle.

  12. If available, set the House Inventory/Primary Inventory Ceiling. This performs automated functions on Primary Inventory.  When adding a new room type this will populate the number of rooms allocated in primary inventory for 18 months out into the future, which makes it easier to add a new room type.

Note: When changing this number a popup window will appear that allows you to update the allocations of existing days for this room type.  You can either automatically adjust to a lower number or higher number or where the inventory was equal to zero.  During room conversion or other hotel operations this could be used to increase or decrease allocations in primary inventory. The 3 options for updating Primary Inventory are where:

Important: Only options 1 and either 2 or 3 can be selected at any point. Descriptions have been added to the screen when an option is picked to explain the process.

  1. Optionally, although recommended, upload an image of the room.
